4 Breath 4 Life in partnership with The Healthy Children Consortium organised The Helping Babies Breathe Training aimed to better prepare healthcare professionals to deal with birth asphyxia and provide newborns a greater chance at life. The training was held from November 28th to November 31st, 2022 at the Signature Children Hospital, Lekki and Lagos University Teaching Hospital in Idi-Araba, Lagos, Nigeria.
The Healthy Children Consortium, consists of The Nigerian Society of Neonatal Medicine (NISONM), The Pediatric Association of Nigeria (PAN), and The Nigerian Physicians in the America (NPA).
The event was well attended by over 50 healthcare professionals from across Nigeria, who praised the training for being informative, hands-on and interactive. The attendees also appreciated the opportunity to learn from experienced healthcare professionals and experts in the field.
Overall, the Helping Babies Breathe Training was a great success, providing healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills they need to save the lives of newborns and reduce neonatal mortality rates in Nigeria. The event was free of charge and open to all healthcare professionals working in the field of neonatal care. The organizers, 4 Breath 4 Life and The Healthy Children Consortium, plan to hold similar events in the future to continue to improve the care and survival of newborns in Nigeria.
